If You Have High Blood Pressure, a condition where the heart pumps in more forceful pressure than it otherwise would, it is a  major risk factor for many other diseases and affects 1/3 of the adult population.

High blood pressure is almost always caused by the narrowing of your arteries by plaque or calcium buildup. Block any artery and the the blood pressure behind it goes up. Block it enough and you stop the blood flow, this is commonly a heart attack or a stroke

High blood pressure is known as a “silent killer”. While one wouldn’t think a little extra blood pressure would be a big deal, that extra blood pressure can lead to a number of diseases as a result of the damaging of the blood vessels including what is known as hardening of the arteries, which causes a decreased blood flow to the heart and the rest of the body.

The damaged blood vessels will increase blood pressure and the decreased blood flow forces the heart to pump harder to move your blood. The extra strain on your heart and can make your heart become enlarged or you could suffer angina, a heart attack or heart failure.

The one tissue of your body that is most affected by high blood pressure is the endothelium, a one-celled thick organ that produces the master signaling molecule of your entire cardiovascular system.

By properly combining two amino acids (L-arginine and L-citrulline) you can naturally support the endothelium and properly nourish it for improved nitric oxide production.

Nitric oxide, when at sufficient levels in the bloodstream, can heal damage done to the endothelium to keep it healthy. And, current research indicates that nitric oxide can help to reverse plaque formations to help return the endothelium and vascular wall to a supple and healthy state. The result of this process is improved circulation and blood flow.

Nitric oxide directly addresses three of the health complications of diabetes:

  • Strokes
  • Heart Attacks

By repairing and nourishing your endothelial cells to enhance their ability to properly produce nitric oxide you can have a significant impact on limiting and preventing the complications of diabetes.

Several studies have shown that supplementation with proper amounts of l-arginine decreases angina symptoms and improves tolerance to exercise. It also appears to help in cases of congestive heart failure when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

L-arginine supplements can be helpful in temporarily reducing high blood pressure, particularly in type II diabetics

High blood pressure can also cause eye damage including blindness because the small vessels in your eyes can rupture or burst because of the increased blood pressure.

High blood pressure is also the leading cause of chronic kidney disease and strokes.

Getting your blood pressure checked regularly and keeping an eye on the level (ideally 120/80 or below) is the first step to avoiding the severe consequences of high blood pressure. Doctors agree there is no good kind of high blood pressure.

Whether through the use of medicine, a healthy low salt diet, proper nutritional supplementation, exercise or a combination of all these approaches, treating and preventing high blood pressure is crucial. High blood pressure is called the silent killer for a reason.
